FR Resistant T-shirts

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FR t-shirts are made with fire-resistant fabric that resists ignition and self-extinguishes once the flame or heat source is removed. A regular cotton tee can ignite and keep burning, or melt onto skin if it is a synthetic. Forge FR tees are built for workers exposed to flash fire and arc flash hazards.

Yes, Forge FR crew neck tees are UL certified to NFPA 2112 (2023 edition) and meet NFPA 70E PPE requirements and ASTM F1506. NFPA 2112 covers flash fire protection, while NFPA 70E covers electrical arc flash safety. Check each product page, since certifications can differ by style.

Our Crew Neck FR tee has an ATPV of 11 cal/cm² (HRC/CAT 2). ATPV shows how much heat energy the fabric can block before a second-degree burn is likely. Always match the arc rating to your job's hazard risk category, and confirm the rating on the specific style you choose.

Workers exposed to flash fire, electric arc or molten metal often need FR clothing, including electricians, welders, oil and gas crews, utility linemen and refinery staff. OSHA requires employers to assess hazards and provide suitable protection, and it points to standards like NFPA 70E. Your safety officer decides which rating applies.

Yes, FR tees work well as a base layer under FR shirts, coveralls or jackets. Avoid synthetic underlayers like polyester or nylon, because they can melt onto skin in a fire. Wearing FR from the inside out gives the most complete protection.

Forge FR graphic tees are made on FR fabric with prints designed for FR use, so you don't have to choose between style and safety. Check the product page for the exact standards on each printed style. Non-FR patches or heat transfers can reduce a garment's protection.

Follow the care label. In general, avoid bleach, fabric softener and starch, which can coat fibers and interfere with flame resistance. Wash inside out in warm water. Our tees are made to resist shrinkage, and you should replace any garment that is torn, worn thin or contaminated with flammable substances.

Forge FR tees come in regular sizes S to 5XL and tall sizes LT to 3XLT. Prices start around $62 for standard crew neck styles. We offer free shipping and a 15-day satisfaction guarantee. For bulk or team orders, call +1 (216) 926-2925 or email sales@forgefr.net.
