Hi Vis Tee

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A hi-vis tee is a work t-shirt made with fluorescent fabric and reflective striping. It keeps workers visible near traffic, machinery, and low-light areas. Road crews, construction workers, utility crews, and warehouse teams commonly wear it.

Check the sewn-in label. A compliant tee shows the ANSI/ISEA 107 standard, type, and class on the label. If the label is missing or unreadable, do not rely on the garment for compliance.

Class 2 needs at least 775 sq. in. of fluorescent material and 201 sq. in. of reflective striping, for traffic up to about 50 mph. Class 3 needs more material and reflective trim on the sleeves. Choose Class 3 for higher-speed or low-light work.

Workers exposed to road traffic need hi-vis clothing under MUTCD rules. Type R is the designation for temporary traffic control zones on public roads, and it can be Class 2 or Class 3. Type O is only for off-road work.

Yes, if the tee carries the right ANSI label for your job. Tees and polos suit active summer work where a vest is too hot. Your employer's hazard assessment decides the class you need.

No, not in arc flash areas. A polyester or nylon vest can melt and worsen burns, even over compliant FR clothing. Use a dual-certified FR hi-vis garment instead.

Use a cold, gentle cycle with mild detergent. Avoid bleach and fabric softener, then air dry or tumble dry on low. Wash it inside out to protect the reflective tape. For FR tees, follow the care label.
